Jeethu Joseph Career

For his first film assignment, Jeethu Joseph worked as an assistant director on Jayaraj’s Bheebhathsam. He was unable to regain his footing after failing to helm a film starring Dileep. At this point, Jeethu had already begun to plot out Detective’s basic storyline. His mom, Leelamma Joseph, offered to help finance his debut film when he was having trouble getting funding elsewhere. A producer expressed interest and seized over a month into production. A broadcast of Detective debuted that year. Box office receipts were high for this film.

His subsequent film, Mummy & Me, was a commercial and critical success. Mummy and Me was approximately three years in the making, yet it was a watershed moment in his career as a director. Making “Mummy and Me” was far more difficult than my first film. In the past, Jeethu had been approached about appearing in films like “Detective,” but he had always declined. I set out to develop an unconventional film because… The one-line scripts for both Mummy and Me and Memories were completed in 2008, but he ultimately chose to focus on Mummy and Me. His third film, My Boss, was a commercial success. Jeethu’s fourth film, Memories, a suspense thriller that premiered that same year, 2013, was a commercial success.

Drishyam, Mohanlal’s drama/thriller released at the end of the year, was well-received by both critics and viewers. It was the highest-grossing Malayalam film up till 2016, and the first to earn over 50 crore rupees at the box office. A remake of Jeethu’s Tamil film Drishyam starring Kamal Haasan as the role originally played by Mohanlal. Movie adaptations were created for it in the languages of Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi. In his next film, Life of Josutty, Jeethu cast Dileep.
