Story

For the past four hundred years, the hidden riches of Vasco da Gama has been guarded by Barroz, a treasure guardian who has been tasked with the responsibility of only transferring the wealth to a direct descendant of Gama. But there are a select few people who have a terrible intent to seize control of this treasure, and they cause Barroz a great deal of trouble with their powers. The remainder of the story will reveal whether or not Barroz was successful in protecting the riches and passing it on to the rightful descendant of Gama.

Santosh Sivan is considered as one of the top cinematographers in India. He has been working in movies as a cinematographer since 1986 and received many national awards for his work. At the beginning of the shoot, Barroz team have announced that KU Mohanan will be part of movie’s cinematography, but after the shoot began Santosh Sivan replaced KU Mohanan and the reason behind is still unknown.

Barroz Movie OTT Platform (Digital Rights)

Mohanlal in 2019 announced about his directorial debut and that it will be made on the novel written by Jijo Punnoose. After all the pre-production work, Barroz movie went on to shoot in the month of March 2021. Many sets have been build on Kochi for the shoot of this movie and as per the announcement made by Mohanlal, this movie will be completely shot in 3D and very high technology is used during the shoot.

Though the shoot has begun in the year 2021, COVID pandemic had made the team to halt the movie for few months and later Mohanlal was busy with other shoots he committed earlier. As of now major part of the shoot has been completed and makers will definitely release the movie only in theatres, as it is completely shot in 3D. As of now there is no announcement on the satellite rights and digital rights of the movie.

Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran was also part of this mammoth project, but as the shoot got delayed due to pandemic and as Prithviraj Sukumaran had an issue in adjusting the dates for the shoot, Mohanlal have decided to scrap all the scenes of Prithvirar from the movies and started the reshoot with new cast from December 2021. This schedule continued till June 2022 wrapping up the shoot.

Mohanlal’s daughter Vismaya Mohanlal worked as an assistant director for this movie and movie was extensively shot in Kochi, Chennai, Bangkok, which was earlier planned in Portugal. We need to wait for an announcement from the movie team about any further details on the movie.
